A Simple Locking Drill

When
engaged in combat there are certain things we will find ourselves
doing naturally without thinking. These habits have been instilled
into us by constant regular training and the use of drill
practice.
Listed below is an example of a simple drill that we have devised
to develop a fighting response that can be used effectively in
(live) combat. This is just one example of a typical drill that we
use as a base for our teaching. The drills we have devised
cover a wide variety of responses against a would be assailant.
Whilst practicing any drill it is very important to keep a strict
form without developing bad habits. From our experience the most
common cause of bad form usually develops from laziness and
tiredness. It is also important that both practitioners stretch
and warm up properly before starting any form of drill routine.
All drills are practiced with a partner working together
alternately.

1
-
Man A (Right) will reach over with his right hand and grab Man B’s
(Left) lapel. |
| |
2
- Man B will reach over and tightly clasp the top of Man A’s
right wrist.
Advanced application: When clasping the wrist the heart and
lung points can be activated, not only would this create more pain
it would also activate a release point and make the attacker more
susceptible to an attack further up the meridians. |

|
3 - Man B will
then turn Man A’s wrist in a clockwise motion. |
|
4 - Man B will
reinforce his position by also clasping Man A’s lower forearm with
his left hand and also by stepping forward with his left leg into
a strong fighting stance.
Conclusion - Man
A should end up finding himself completely arched over and with
his right arm locked out straight |

Below is a movie clip
demonstrating an application against a grab, finishing with a neck
break. The defence starts off with Man B palming Man A's
face to take his energy away from the gripping hand |
